A Villa “Green”,
eco-friendly
One of the only private “Green” Villas on the Island.
The architect had a lot of thought into the Green Villa’s design to ensure its impact on the natural environment to be as low as possible and to lessen its carbon footprint.
The architect had a lot of thought into the Green Villa’s design to ensure its impact on the natural environment to be as low as possible and to lessen its carbon footprint.
He has designed the Villa to let in as much natural light as possible to reduce the need for electric lights which includes carefully-placed skylights and areas of glass, to make maximum use of natural light.
Energy wastage is kept to a minimum at the Green Villa. LED lights are used throughout the Villa and replace traditional lightbulbs. In addition, in order to significantly reduce the Villa’s carbon footprint, considerable investment has been made in a solar energy installation. the roof is fitted with 20 solar panels, covering the electricity needs of 50% of its overall consumption. batteries, recharged during the day, cover most of the electricity consumption during the night resulting from the operation of the air conditioners. In the next 24 months, additional investments will be made to make the villa energy positive. The cost of electricity is therefore charged to you at cost price.
Water use is reduced in a wide range of ways. It is sourced from personal deep wells to avoid delivery by trucks and the Villa has invested in a two-step toilet flushing system to reduce water waste. A rainwater harvesting system has been installed to manage the bulk of the garden’s automatic watering consumption.
Sustainability standards raised as far as possible, which has led us to eliminate all use of single-use plastic bottles, replaced by individual water bottle, which can be refilled in the kitchen where an atmospheric water generator is installed. This device is providing 30 litres per day of 100% pure, safe and healthy drinking water with no more additives like chlorine, fluoride or ground water contaminates.
- Bin bags are all biodegradable. All detergents used for cleaning the house are certified organic
- The garden on-site produces natural fresh herbs with free use by our guests.
In order to be conservative with your electric use, we expect you only use the air conditioner when you are in the room and the doors and windows are all closed. Running the air-conditioning excessively is bad for the environment. Each room has a ceiling fan as a more eco-friendly and economic option.
